My bet is that it was in the former as it's Medieval rather than Elisabethan. However, I have no idea which specific cookbook it was - I thought it was Apicius but couldn't find it in there when I checked the manuscript. The next most likely is one of those little cookbooks published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art - Cooking of Richard II or something like that.

The first time I cooked this recipe was at Snake Den Road for a medieval dinner party we held for friends from the SCA including the Philips family. I have made it many times since - it's just too good to be forgotten.Barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07875382901008019804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8950468821161007091.post-29718341867406626142010-01-25T20:01:12.801+00:002010-01-25T20:01:12.801+00:00I seem to remember your having made this stuff whe...I seem to remember your having made this stuff when we were living on Snake Den Road.Didn't you find the recipe in one of your SCA cookbooks?T Byrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09535819751075606009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8950468821161007091.post-21360757711372172562010-01-25T13:30:08.235+00:002010-01-25T13:30:08.235+00:00Ah, I've been wanting to get this recipe for a...Ah, I've been wanting to get this recipe for ages.
